Refers to President Lincoln's comments regarding supplies and the "facts being to the contrary." A pass, Dec. 4, 1861, for Mr. William Butler and Lady to Fort Holt and Cairo, signed by Major Mudd.

Mudd enlisted as major of the 2nd Illinois Cavalry on September 23, 1861.
